Järnboås is a place ( Småort ) in the Swedish province of Örebro län and the historic province (landskap) Västmanland .

The place is located in the municipality of Nora about twenty kilometers northwest of their main town Nora . From 1863 to 1951 the place was the seat of its own rural municipality, the Järnboås landskommun. Today Järnboås is still the seat of its own parish , Järnboås socken . After the population of the place decreased from 50 in 2005 , it lost the status of a Småort in 2010 and increased again to almost 70 (2015).

With a village community center, a school and a supermarket, despite its small size, the place is a central point of contact for the neighboring residents of the even smaller settlements Finnshyttan, Lindesby, Gammelhyttan and Göranstorp.

Länsväg 767 leads through Järnboås from Nora to Riksväg 63 between Kopparberg and Hällefors . The place used to have a train station on the Striberg – Grängen line . However, this line has been closed since 1979 (passenger traffic as early as 1966) and dismantled.
