history
The municipality of Nora was created in 1965 by merging the municipality of Noraskog and the city of Nora.
economy
The area of today's municipality was an important location for the Swedish iron production until 1960. In 1967 the last mine was closed. Today, most of the businesses in Nora parish are small businesses. The largest private employer is Alfred Nobel's first company, Nitro Nobel AB with around 400 employees in Gyttorp .
politics
The municipal council is directly elected every four years. In Nora this consists of 35 members. The mandate management of the parties is as follows:
