The Uebigau town mill was the oldest mill on the Neugraben . However, before the construction of the new trench, there was already a watermill on an altar of the Black Elster in today's area of the city of Uebigau .

History and owner

In the mill regulations of 1561, which was published by Elector August of Saxony , it says about the mill of Uebigau: “Because the mill in the little town of Uebigau belongs to the Rath alda, and at rare times is common, some not located on the Elster stream, but from driven on one arm of the same, and for which no complaint has ever been made, it should be tolerated and preserved in its present nature, and not be increased by several works ”. In the Saxon mill overview from 1653, Mattheß Kunsch was named as miller. In 1712 the mill is sold to the miller from Postberga for financial reasons. In 1750 the mill belonged to Georg Berger and was valued at 1500 Talers . In the inspection report of the mills on the Schwarzen Elster from 1777, master miller Zabel is named as the owner of the mill. Johann Heinrich Zabel is the mill owner in 1785, the mill master is Andreas Zabel. In the 19th century the mill building was rebuilt as a plastered brick building with a hipped roof . In 1904 the mill was sold by master miller Kühne to Adolf Lenicke. His son, Herbert Lenicke, took over the mill in 1938. By founding an agricultural production cooperative in 1968, the miller was banned from commercial milling. Despite the existing facilities, the mill was shut down.

construction

In 1779 the mill had two grinding aisles , a millet mill, an oil mill and a cutting mill. A Zuppinger wheel served as the drive . In the years that followed, neither the structure nor the equipment changed. After the sale of the water rights in the course of the Elster regulation in 1924, a motor was installed as a drive. Further modernizations were carried out until 1950, among other things the regrind was passed on by installing a pneumatic system .
