Kitzbühel Museum

The Kitzbühel Museum - Alfons Walde Collection is the municipal museum of the city of Kitzbühel in the Tyrol region.

The former grain box was built in the 1st half of the 16th century. The building is structurally connected to the southwest tower - essentially from the 12th century - of the city fortifications. There is a buttress arch to house number 28. On the upper floor, the masonry was exposed with Opus spicatum . The beam ceilings were installed in 1708. The building is a historical monument.

Opened in 1934, the museum provides an overview of the history and culture of the city and region. The focus of the collection is local history, winter sports history and folklore of the Kitzbühel district . There are prehistoric finds. The museum houses paintings from the collection of the painter and architect Alfons Walde (1891–1958). In 2007 the museum received the Tyrolean Museum Prize . The museum director is Wido Sieberer (2013).
