The Pforzheim City Museum in Pforzheim in Baden-Württemberg has been located in the profaned parish church of St. Martin and in the old schoolhouse since 1974 . The address is: Westliche Karl-Friedrich-Strasse 241/243.

history

On the initiative of Alfons Kern , the municipal antiquity collection was founded in 1897 . In 1924 the Reuchlin Museum opened on the Schlossberg, which was destroyed by an air raid on February 23, 1945.

The local history museum in the archive building on Schlossberg 18 was reopened in 1952. In 1961 the museum moved to the Reuchlinhaus, Jahnstraße 42.

In 1974 the museum found its place in the former church of St. Martin and the neighboring former schoolhouse in the district of Brötzingen .

Since 1995 it has been called the Pforzheim City Museum.

Permanent exhibition

The permanent exhibition is divided into three areas:

  • From raftsmen and goldsmiths
  • From the princely wedding
  • And the destruction in 1945

In addition to the permanent exhibition, special exhibitions are regularly offered. In 2018 with the title Pforzheim and its twin cities .
