history

Following the approval of the Upper President of the Rhine Province in January 1897, the credit institution began its business activities on July 1, 1897 under the name Die Städtische Sparkasse zu Honnef am Rhein . Initially, the Sparkasse had only one business room in what was then the town hall . It belonged to the Rheinisch-Westfälischer Sparkassenverband from the beginning . In 1920 the property at Hauptstrasse 34 (corner of Weyermannallee) was acquired, on which a separate administration building for the Sparkasse was built by 1921 according to plans by the Honnef city architect Josef Wolfgarten. In 1929 the first branch was opened in the Rhöndorf district . The Sparkasse received its current name in 1960 when the city was renamed from "Honnef" to "Bad Honnef". In 1977 the Stadtsparkasse took over the previous branch of the Kreissparkasse in Siegburg in Aegidienberg , which had been incorporated into the city of Bad Honnef in the course of the municipal reorganization in the Bonn area (1969). In 1977, after the previous administration building was demolished, a larger new building for the Stadtsparkasse was completed two years earlier at the same location.

On August 1, 2019, Stadtsparkasse Bad Honnef merged retroactively to January 1, 2019 with Kreissparkasse Köln .
