history

An agreement was reached on July 28, 1902 between the management of Dillinger Hüttenwerke and the municipality of Dillingen. It stipulated that the 40 hectares of the Dillingen community between Dillingen and Diefflen north of the smelter site and the Prims would be exchanged for another property belonging to the works. In return, the town of Dillingen received a connection to the water supply and to the electrical lighting of the Dillinger Hütte, "which had offered to let the customers make the connections under very coulant conditions". This was the first step towards an independent, centralized electricity and water supply. The hour of birth of today's Stadtwerke therefore falls on July 29, 1902, the day on which the representatives of the community gave their approval for this project.
