On November 26, 1926, a gas supply contract was signed between Rüsselsheim and Überlandwerk Mainz, and the city began to be supplied with gas from December 1926. On December 30, 1960, the statutes of June 16, 1957 were repealed or passed in a new version; the swimming pools were no longer part of the company's own operation. On January 1, 2001, the Stadtwerke went from being a private company to a GmbH, while the subsidiaries Wasserversorgung Rüsselsheim GmbH and Gasversorgung Rüsselsheim GmbH were founded. Stadtwerke took part in the establishment of Mobilbus GmbH, which was founded by Riedwerke and private bus companies to employ bus drivers. The private companies later sold their shares again.
