The Stadtwerke Willich GmbH ( STW ) are the water , gas , electricity companies and utilities for heat and street lighting for Willich . The supply area of the Stadtwerke covers an area of 68 km² with the districts Willich, Anrath , Schiefbahn and Neersen .
history
On October 2, 1897, the community gas works was founded by the community of Willich. Until 1936, the community gas works supplied the Willicher with self-generated coke oven gas . Then the Willicher Ferngas obtained from Ruhrgas AG .
As part of the municipal reorganization on January 1, 1970 (the municipalities of Anrath, Neersen, Schiefbahn and Willich were combined to form the city of Willich), the municipal gasworks was renamed Stadtwerke Willich. With entry in the commercial register , Stadtwerke Willich became Stadtwerke Willich GmbH on May 29, 1973.
In 1987 the municipal utilities bought the administration building of the Hannen brewery , converted it and moved into it in the autumn of 1988. In 2008, the Stadtwerke Service Meerbusch Willich GmbH & Co. KG (SG) was founded as a joint service provider for stw and wbm Wirtschaftsbetriebe Meerbusch GmbH.
On March 4, 2016, a new customer center was opened on Peterstrasse in Willich.

Services
- Gas supply
The municipal utilities maintain the pipe network for the natural gas supply in all Willich districts with a total length of around 200 km.
- Water supply
The drinking water network has a length of 208 km, about 2.2 million m³ of water are given off annually.
The feed comes from the waterworks Fellerhöfe of Stadtwerke Willich. The waterworks draws the drinking water from the groundwater and uses softening systems to set the water hardness to 2 (soft).
- sewage
The municipal utilities also bill the wastewater for the city of Willich.
- Power supply
1996 the takeover of the power grid from RWE. Stadtwerke has leased its electricity network in Willich to Westnetz GmbH for the period from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2018 .
