Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska ( SAM ) is one of the subsidiaries of the joint stock company Stalexport Autostrady SA based in Mysłowice and the motorway operator of the section between Katowice and Krakow of the Polish A4 motorway .

history

The company was founded in 1998 as a subsidiary of the then concessionaire Stalexport Autostrady SA with a 100% share in the share capital. The aim of the established subsidiary was to carry out the tasks that were contractually stipulated as part of the concession for the construction and financing of the A4 motorway section from Katowice to Krakow.

In 2003, the Polish government passed a law that allowed the concession to be transferred to a subsidiary. On July 28, 2004, the license was officially transferred from the parent company Stalexport Autostrady SA to the subsidiary Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska SA.

In October 2009, the complete modernization of the A4 motorway section was completed. The road surface and 31  bridges on the entire 61 km long section were renewed. In addition, the dividing strip was asphalted at 15 regular intervals and the noise protection wall was built over a length of 15 kilometers.

From 1997 to 2009 about 830 million zlotys were invested in the construction and modernization of the entire section of the motorway. From 2010 to 2012 a further 200 million zlotys will be used in modernization work.

In May 2011, a Warsaw Court of Appeal finally dismissed an appeal against a fine of 1.3 million złoty for Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska. The toll had not been lowered during the construction work on the 61 km long route.
