Trunk role

In the German military, the historical term Stammrolle referred to as recruiting master role as the replacement system to be kept by the municipal authority under the supervision of the replacement authorities of all male residents of the community of military age. These and their relatives were obliged to report changes of residence and the like. The registrars also had to submit the necessary extracts from their registers free of charge.
Troop trunk role referred to the list of men in a unit ( company , squadron , battery , etc.) of the active armed forces.
War root roll , for officers war ranking list, list of all members of a unit, to be created after the start of the war. The information given was about the respective person, their relatives, fights, awards, etc. When leaving, the whereabouts were to be noted. The lists were stored in the archives (e.g. in the Bavarian War Archives ) after they had been acknowledged by each individual by signature . The determination of the personality of the dead and wounded was made from the war log on the basis of the identification tag , pay book or military passport . Entries in the war tribe roles and rankings served as the basis for notarizing deaths and documenting pension claims .
