The Stancomb Cove is a side bay of telephone Bay , in turn, a side bay of Port Foster is the caldera of Deception Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located northeast of Laguna Hill in the northwestern part of the caldera. It was created as a result of volcanic activity between December 1967 and August 1970.
The bay was mapped in January 1988 by the crew of the HMS Endurance . It is named after the Stancomb-Wills boat that was used for the survey work carried out for this purpose.
