Standard electrode
The standard electrode is used in electrochemistry to determine the normal potential . It is a galvanic half-cell that meets the standard requirements:
- Temperature T = 298.15 K = 25 ° C
- Pressure p = 101325 Pa
- Concentration c = 1 mol / l
The electrode potential E , which is measured against the normal hydrogen electrode, is the normal potential E 0 of the half-cell .
In the event of a deviation from the standard conditions, the electrode potential E is determined using the Nernst equation .
