Stanisław Krupowicz
Stanisław Krupowicz (born November 25, 1952 in Grodno ) is a Polish composer and music teacher.
Krupowicz studied from 1971 to 1976 at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw , then until 1981 composition with Tadeusz Baird and Włodzimierz Kotoński at the State Academy of Music. He attended composition courses in Bayreuth (1979) and took part in the Darmstadt summer courses in 1981 . As a Fulbright Scholar, he studied composition in 1983-84 and computer music with John Chowning and Leland Smith at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics of Stanford University . In 1986 he received the Prix de Paris from Stanford University at the Institut de Recherche et de Coordination Acoustique / Musique .
From 1993 to 1996 Krupowicz was a member of the Warsaw Autumn Repertoire Committee , after which he was one of the founders of the Friends of Warsaw Autumn Foundation, of which he was President from 1998 to 2000. In 2005 he was one of the initiators of the Musica Electronica Nova Festival in Wrocław, of which he was the first artistic director. He teaches composition and computer music and heads the studio for computer composition at the Wroclaw University of Music.
In 1981 Krupowicz received second prize in the competition of the Association of Young Polish Composers with the piece Tempo 72 for amplified harpsichord and strings. Warsaw Autumn, he debuted in 1984 with Music for S . For the composition Tako rzecze Bosch for tape he received the second prize in 1985 in the competition for computer music NEWCOMP in Boston. With the Wariacje pożegnalne na temat Mozarta for amplified string quartet and tape, he won the International Irino Competition in Tokyo in 1987 , and with Fin de siècle he won the bronze medal at the UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers in 1994 .
