Stanisław Olszewski (born January 6, 1852 in Warsaw , † July 15, 1898 in Giessen ) was a Polish engineer and inventor, co-inventor of arc welding together with NN Benardos .

He studied at the University of Liège ( Belgium ). After graduating in mechanical engineering in August 1875, he returned to Warsaw and got a job at the Warsaw mechanical engineering company Lilpop, Rau and Loewenstein . Soon he became the general representative of this company for Russia and general representative of three Russian companies for wagon construction, rails and rail accessories. At the same time, he started his own company in Saint Petersburg , where he spent most of his life.

In the years 1881–1882, together with the Russian engineer NNBenardos, he developed a process for arc welding with carbon electrodes, which received a patent in France in 1885 and one in the USA in 1887.

Stanisław Olszewski died on July 15, 1898 in Giessen and was buried in the Powązki cemetery in Warsaw.
