Stanley Arthur Brittain

Stanley Arthur "Stan" Brittain (born October 7, 1931 in Liverpool ) is a former British cyclist .

In the International Peace Tour in 1955 he came third, wearing the jersey of the leader in the individual classification on four stages. In 1956 he made the peace ride up to the sixth stage and in 1957 he won two stages. In 1958 he was ninth overall. In 1956 Brittain took part in the road races at the Summer Olympics and was able to win the silver medal with the team and take 6th place in the individual. In 1957 he was British amateur champion . He rode the Tour de France three times , in 1958 he was 69th, in 1960 and 1961 he retired.

In 1958 he started his professional career with the Helyett - Potin - Hutchison (France) team, changing frequently to other teams, but later returned to the Viking Cycles (Great Britain and Northern Ireland) team. He completed his career with the Alan Quinn team (Great Britain and Northern Ireland).
