The Apenke is a left tributary of the Söse in Osterode am Harz in Lower Saxony .

course

The Apenke rises south of the Feenhöhe in the bear garden. It initially flows parallel to the Eipenke in a south-westerly direction. At Augustental, it is reinforced by the runoff from the Teufelsbad . In the further course, the Apenke flows to the northwest and feeds the Kaiserteich and horse pond. It flows into the Söse in the Petershütte district .

history

In the past, the flow force of the Apenke was used to drive various water wheels in gypsum, grain and saw mills. In 1991 the Apenke in Osterode was contaminated by the release of 8 m³ of diesel fuel .
