From 1923 until his death, he was Artistic Advisor to the Monotype Corporation , responsible for the extraordinary growth of their font library. From 1929 to 1960 he also worked as an artistic consultant for the daily newspaper The Times . This activity also led to the most famous font developed by Morison : The Times . "Times New Roman" first appeared in the October 3, 1932 edition of The Times. Just 40 years later, newspaper printing conditions had changed dramatically. The metal typesetting technique or Linotype typesetting machine was gradually replaced by photo typesetting .

Another of Morison's writings is the Bembo published in 1929 , named after Cardinal Pietro Bembo , whose treatise De Aetna was printed in 1495 in the De Aetna-Type , which served as a model for modern Bembo.

From 1935 to 1951 he published a four-volume work on the history of The Times . He was a corresponding member of the Grolier Club .

His library of around 6,000 volumes came to the Cambridge University Library in 1968 .
