Star Strike is a shoot 'em up which in 1982 first appeared on the Mattel Intellivision.

Gameplay

The aim of the game is to destroy the enemy space station in order to prevent the accompanying destruction of the earth . Numerous enemy missiles and spaceships try to prevent the plan . If the earth is in the middle of the screen, a red projectile must be destroyed. If one fails or is shot down beforehand, the earth is destroyed and the game is over. Of course, it is also the highest possible high score to achieve.

The game is mostly from the 1977 released movie Star Wars ( "Star Wars") inspired. The rebels had to get into the Death Star via the air shaft in order to ultimately destroy it successfully. However, the game is not part of the franchise due to the lack of a license.

reception

"A nerve-wracking game that is much faster than other Intellivision program cassettes."

- TeleMatch 3/83

A total of 800,000 modules were sold in the year of publication, making it the best-selling Intellivision game of the year. Even today it is one of the most famous games for this console.

Trivia

The game is on display at The Strong National Museum of Play ( Rochester , USA ).
