Stari Žednik ( Cyrillic  Стари Жедник , Croatian : Žednik, Hungarian : Nagyfény) is a small town in the far north of Serbia , in the province of Vojvodina , in the Okrug Severna Bačka district . It is located south of Subotica .

Stari Žednik has 2,230 inhabitants (2002). The Croatians make up the relative majority . Together with the Bunjewatzen , they make up almost half of the population. Another quarter are Hungarians .
