Starsailor is one in 1,999 Wigan ( England founded) British band . It plays melodic Britpop and was named after a 1970 album by singer Tim Buckley .

Band history

It was singers like Neil Young or Nick Drake who persuaded Starsailor singer James Walsh to form a band. So the band was founded in today's line-up while he was studying music. Keyboardist Barry Westhead was only added later to complete the band, whose members are mainly from Warrington , only Walsh grew up in Chorley . In April 2000 the band performed for the first time in London and was then courted by many record companies. After all, it was EMI that you signed up to. 2001 came out the first two singles Fever and Good Souls , which both reached a place in the top 20. The follow-up single Alcoholic even made it into the top 10.

Starsailor's debut album Love Is Here was released in October 2001 and sold quite successfully. Two years later, the follow-up album Silence Is Easy came on the market, which was able to confirm the commercial success of the debut album. This contains two songs produced by Phil Spector and had an internationally successful single with Four to the Floor .

In 2005 the musicians released their third album On the Outside and appeared at some concerts as the opening act for U2 . In 2006 they appeared in the opening act at two Rolling Stones concerts in Germany . At the end of August 2006 Starsailor toured the USA for the first time, as he did at the 2005 concerts, supported by Richard “Echoboy” Warren (vocals, guitar, harmonica).

After their less successful fourth album All the Plans , front man James Walsh announced a break for the band in 2009 to concentrate on his own projects.

Starsailor has been playing concerts again since summer 2014. In November 2014, she appeared as the opening act for James . In 2015 she made her own tours through Asia and the USA. A UK tour is planned for October 2015.
