These are known as the status quo ante .

history

The building at Halenárska Street 2 was built according to plans by the Viennese architect Jakob Gartner (1861–1921). After the Second World War and the murder of most of the Jews, it fell into disrepair over the years. In 1990 it was renovated, deliberately keeping visible signs of decay. A few years later an extensive renovation took place, but this approach was deviated from. Today the building houses a center for contemporary art and a JUDAICA exhibition on the women's gallery

architecture

The secular synagogue in the style of historicism was built according to plans by the Viennese architect Jakob Gartner (1861–1921). It has the basic shape of a three-aisled basilica with a raised central nave and upper aisle . The western entrance front mirrors the interior structure with towers on both sides. Inside there are stairs to the women's gallery. They have an octagonal attachment, on which in turn onion domes are attached. There are stone slabs with the Ten Commandments on the gable.

In the style of Reform Judaism, the Bima was not in the middle of the main hall, but near the Torah shrine on the east wall. Bima and Torah shrine are no longer there.

The women's gallery on the south, west and east sides was supported by cast iron columns, which also supported the ceiling of the central nave. Also in the style of Reform Judaism, the gallery was not shielded by screens and grids.
