Staubing is a village on the Danube in Bavaria , one kilometer upstream from Weltenburg . Since January 1st, 1976 it has been a district of Kelheim .

history

Dusting was probably settled by Bavarians during the migration period in the 5th to 7th centuries . In 1971, during archaeological excavations near the present location, row graves and a wooden church from this period were found. It is possible that Staubing was built as a civil settlement of the Roman fort on the Frauenberg near Weltenburg in the 4th century .

The first documentary mention shows that Staubing was handed over to the St. Emmeram monastery in Regensburg between 863 and 885 . In 1380 it came to the Counts of Abensberg and in 1485 to the Wittelsbachers .

St. Stephen Church

The church of St. Stephan is based on a medieval building from the 9th / 10th centuries. Century back. Today's baroque building with rich furnishings was built between 1750 and 1755. The church with the old cemetery is on a hill. In 1968 a new cemetery was built on the outskirts.

Flood

Large parts of the local area are repeatedly under water, especially during the severe floods in 1965, 1999, 2002, 2005 and 2013. Dusting is officially classified as a flood area. As early as 1927, the Bavarian Court of Auditors wrote: "The extension of the full dam length to Staubing (km 167) sought by those involved, along with an increase in the low-lying, often and long-lasting flooded roads and paths between Staubing and Weltenburg Abbey and near Stausacker, will undoubtedly benefit the damaged communities bring a, if not perfect, yet quite effective flood protection. The demand of the municipalities for flood protection is also justified, since since the construction of the dams between Ingolstadt and Eining as a result of the merging of the floods between them and the elimination of further flood areas, the floods in the immediately following stretch of river have a more tangible effect. " After the relocation of the place was temporarily discussed, there are now plans for a flood dam .
