Stauning whiskey
Stauning Whiskey is a whiskey distillery in Stauning in Ringkøbing-Skjern municipality in West Jutland, Denmark . The distillery was founded in 2005, in 2007 the current location was moved 1.5 km south of the town center. Diageo , a global manufacturer of alcoholic beverages, has held a 40 percent stake in Stauning Whiskey since 2015 .

Starting in 2009, 6,000 liters of raw fuel were produced annually. In the course of 2012, production more than doubled to around 15,000 liters a year. After the announced expansion of the production facilities by 2018, up to 750,000 liters are to be produced.

In March 2011, Stauning Whiskey released its first bottles for sale: "Stauning Rye - First Impression". Rye (rye whiskey) is mainly known from the USA and Canada . Stauning's variant is one of the first rye whiskeys to be produced outside of North America .
The first single malt whiskey went on sale in June 2012. It was distilled in two variants, one smoked (peated) and one not smoked (traditional). There were around 750 bottles of both types. This whiskey was stored in 200 liter bourbon barrels made of oak for 3 years after being distilled.
In the future, 50–75 barrels corresponding to 10–15,000 liters of raw spirit are to be distilled annually, which are divided into three types: rye, smoked and non-smoked single malt whiskey.
The award-winning Copenhagen restaurant Noma serves all Stauning whiskey products.
In April 2012, a 200 liter barrel with smoked single malt was brought to the Bramsegler “Hvide Sande” with its home port Hvide Sande . The ship attended the 2012 Summer Olympics in London with its cargo . The whiskey is to be bottled after three years of storage. The alcohol content should then be 56% (Hvide Sande is located on the 56th parallel north).
