The Stavanger bybru ( German Stadtbrücke Stavanger ) is a road bridge in the Norwegian city of Stavanger in the province of Rogaland .
The bridge, completed in 1978, was Norway's first cable-stayed bridge .
description
The bridge leads the provincial road 435 from the city center at a clear height of 26 m over the Strømsteinsund and the island of Grasholmen to the island of Sølyst . It has one lane in each direction and one lane into town reserved for buses and taxis as well as a wide walkway and bike path on both sides.
The bridge structure is a total of 1067 m long. The approach to the bridge begins near the city center with a tunnel, from the end of which a long ramp bridge rises in a slight curve over various streets and houses to the high-lying single-hip cable-stayed bridge.
The A-shaped pylon stands on the other bank and spans the Strømsteinsund from there with a span of 185 m. On the other side of the pylon there is a slightly sloping elevated road that crosses the island of Grasholmen and ends on a hill on the island of Sølyst. The bridge has a total of 24 fields.
The pylon and the bridge piers are made of reinforced concrete . The ramp bridge and the flyover are prestressed concrete - box girder bridges , the first two fields of the high street both tired of the stay cables are aided or pillars.
Only the bridge deck of the main opening consists of an orthotropic plate with a steel box girder and struts.
The bridge was built by the engineering firm Johs. Holt planned in collaboration with Arne Selberg.
