Ste-Marguerite (Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer)
The Roman Catholic Church of Ste-Marguerite in Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer , a French commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region , was built from the 11th century. The Romanesque church, surrounded by a cemetery, has been a protected architectural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1921 .
history
The St. The church consecrated to Margaret of Antioch was renovated in the 19th century in such a way that it is difficult to recognize the authentic parts today. For a long time the church belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Victor-en-Caux in what is now the parish of Saint-Victor-l'Abbaye . Today the church consists of a four- bay main nave , two side aisles, a transept and an apse . Only the left side of the central nave, part of the left aisle and the apse can be clearly assigned to the Romanesque period of origin. The remaining parts date from the 16th and 19th centuries.
