Stefan Blocher

Stefan Blöcher (born February 25, 1960 in Wiesbaden ) is a former German hockey player who has played 259 international matches for Germany. He was German champion twice, European champion four times, vice world champion in 1982, and second in the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games .

During his playing days, Blöcher was one of the best hockey players in the world. He was temporarily a professional and at the time the only hockey player who practiced this sport full-time. In the Champions Trophy in 1987 he scored the most goals and was awarded the 'Best Player of the Tournament'. In the 1988 Olympic semifinals against the Netherlands in Seoul, Blöcher was hit spectacularly in the head by the ball in a penalty corner , but he was lucky and got away with a severe concussion. But the tournament was over for him and Germany lost to Great Britain in the final.

Successes: 259 international games, silver at the Olympic Games 1984 in Los Angeles and 1988 in Seoul , Vice World Champion 1982 , Champions Trophy winner 1986, 1987 and 1988, European Champion 1978 (field), 1980, 1984 and 1991 (hall), German champion 1986 (hall) and 1989 (field), Australian champion 1991.

He played for SC Frankfurt 1880 and Limburger HC and studied at the German Sport University in Cologne .

After his time as an active hockey player, Blöcher was an entrepreneur and has a. a. Organized golf events. Since October 2016 he has been the second managing director of Stadion Berliner Straße GmbH (SBS) and is responsible for marketing the Brita-Arena for SV Wehen Wiesbaden .
