Stefan Blank (born March 10, 1977 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a former German soccer player and today's soccer coach .

career

He last played for MSV Duisburg , to which he moved for two years in July 2006, but was almost not used due to a knee injury and a severe thrombosis shortly afterwards . Previous positions were at 1. FC Kaiserslautern , Alemannia Aachen , FC St. Pauli , Werder Bremen , VfB Stuttgart , Hannover 96 , SG Wattenscheid 09 and FC Schalke 04 .

With Aachen, Blank was in the final of the DFB Cup in Berlin in 2004 , but was defeated by the then German champions Werder Bremen. In the quarterfinals of this competition, Blank scored the 1-0 lead for Aachen on February 4, 2004 in a 2-1 win over FC Bayern Munich . This goal was named “ Goal of the Month February 2004”. In the following season, Blank played successfully in the UEFA Cup with Aachen , before moving to the then first division team Kaiserslautern in January 2005.

In March 2009 Blank became the youth coach of SG Wattenscheid 09 , he established the contact through his old friend and companion Christoph Jacob. For the 2009/10 season Blank took over as head coach of the SGW's first team, but resigned in December 2009. At this point, Wattenscheid was about to crash into the sixth class. For the 2010/11 season, Stefan Blank took over the sports director post of the NRW league club SpVgg Erkenschwick .

From summer 2013, Stefan Blank was the coach of the second team of Halleschen FC in the Oberliga Nordost . After working in the city of Saale, he took over the position of trainer at DJK Eintracht Datteln in the district league on January 1, 2015. In November 2015 he became head coach of the regional league club FC Kray , which he could not save from relegation to the league. After a false start into the new 2016/17 season , he was released after the 3rd match day.
