Stefan Everts (born November 25, 1972 in Bree , Belgium ) is a Belgian motocross driver . His ten world championship titles are a record. He is considered one of the best motocross drivers in racing history to date.

Stefan Everts' father Harry Everts was also successful in motocross and was world champion four times.

In 2003 Stefan Everts won all three Grand Prix (125, 250 and 500 cm³) held in Ernée (France) in one day. He is the only rider who has managed to become world champion with all four Japanese manufacturers of cross machines, Suzuki , Kawasaki , Honda and Yamaha , and the second rider after Eric Geboers to win the unofficial title of “Mr. 875 cm³ “(world champion in classes 125, 250 and 500 cm³).

In 1999, Stefan Everts suffered severe bone fractures in an accident during a Grand Prix and had to stay in hospital for months. He fought his way back to the top of the world and won six more world titles in a row.

Everts holds numerous world records , including the most world championship titles (ten world championship titles) and most grands prix (101 GP victories).

In 2006, after his tenth world championship title, he announced his retirement from active sport and took a job as the sports director for the KTM motocross team. He lives in Monaco with his wife Kelly and son Liam .

He chose his starting number 72 because of the year he was born. It is no longer awarded due to his successes and titles.

In 2004, he appeared in the comedy film Aaltra as himself.

Everts also won the Belgian championship several times as well as the “Grand Prix des Nations” with Belgium. He has been named “Belgium's Sportsman of the Year” several times.
