Stefan Haas

Stefan Haas (born February 18, 1965 in Vienna ) is an Austrian mechanical engineer and manager. He has been Chairman of the Board of Management (CEO) of TÜV AUSTRIA Holding AG , a member of the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards International and CEOC President since March 1, 2013 .

Career

After completing secondary school and HTL in Mödling, Stefan Haas studied mechanical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology . During his studies he worked as a university assistant at the Institute for Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer and the Technical University of Vienna.

In 1994 Haas graduated with a doctorate in technical sciences with distinction.
After three years as a project manager at Christian Doppler Forschungsgesellschaft (sic) , he switched to Knorr Bremse GmbH in 1997 . There he was initially a project manager, then head of a development team and division manager. Haas worked for several years as Managing Director of Knorr Bremse Austria GmbH in Mödling and as Vice President for Innovation & Technology at the corporate headquarters in Munich.

Born in Perchtoldsdorf, he has received several national and international awards for his research and development work, in particular the Lower Austrian Innovation Prize for the development of a linear eddy current brake and the European Railway Award in 2011 .

Stefan Haas is married and has three grown daughters.

Activities, projects as a university assistant

As a university assistant, Stefan Haas taught thermodynamics , single and multi-phase flows, as well as heat and mass transfer. He is the co-author of a revision course for thermodynamics (Oldenbourg Verlag), which has been used as a textbook at various universities for years. His research is in the field of strongly accelerated flows and the asymptotic theory of turbulent flows.
