Stefan Herre (born January 13, 1992 in Balingen ) is a German entrepreneur and politician, formerly Alternative for Germany (AfD). Since March 2016 he has been a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg , of which he is the youngest member.

Life

Herre is the son of Protestant parents and attended the Frommern secondary school . He completed an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic and acquired the two title master craftsman precision engineering and industrial master metal 2000. In April 2014 he founded the Setmax Solution GmbH an IT - Startup , where he held 40 percent of the shares and has now released again. At the beginning of 2016 he worked as a consultant for a medium-sized company in Rottweil . He withdrew from the operational business in order to devote himself entirely to his political goals.

politics

Stefan Herre was a member of the electoral alternative in 2013 and a founding member of the AfD. He founded the AfD's Zollernalb district association, which he chaired together with Jan Hermann until 2017, with like-minded people. In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2016 , he was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg with 18.1 percent of the votes in the constituency of Balingen (constituency 63) . There he was spokesman for youth policy and consumer protection as well as in the committee for the environment, climate and energy industry until December 2017 and since 2016 in the committee for rural areas and consumer protection. Herre was also deputy parliamentary group chairman at the end of 2018, but resigned when he realized that his bourgeois views could no longer find a majority there.

Stefan Herre has so far made a three-digit number of small inquiries, including a. about the homeless in the Zollernalb district or the use of taxpayers' money to answer small inquiries. The absurdity of many inquiries and the misuse of this parliamentary control instrument was criticized. The district administrator of the Zollernalb district complained that Herre was wasting resources in Stuttgart. However, Herre claims that he is aiming for a factual work. In addition, inquiries are one of the few political instruments an opposition party has at their disposal.

In November 2018, Stefan Herre left the AfD's youth party. According to a letter that Stefan Herre co-signed, the AfD youth contained sect-like structures. In November 2019, he and Harald Pfeiffer left the AfD parliamentary group because, according to his own statement, he could no longer pursue his “liberal-conservative values” there. He retained his mandate in the state parliament.

Political positions

  • One focus of his political work is on strengthening rural areas. Herre continually spoke out in favor of maintaining smaller clinic locations, criticized the poor connection of the Zollernalb district to the public transport network and supported the farmers' positions.
  • He supported the demand to preserve the Plettenberg and to stop installing wind turbines in his constituency and in the whole of Baden-Württemberg, "because wind turbines destroy the quality of life for people and animals."
  • He received approval for wanting to immediately abolish the environmental zone that he thought had been rashly introduced in Balingen. This measure was a "serious interference" which should have been well justified. At the end of 2019, the abolition of the Balingen environmental zone was discussed.

criticism

By December 2018, Herre had set up his constituency office in his home. Critics criticized this mixture of personal and professional. He justified this common practice among MPs with the fact that he had not found suitable rooms for a long time. In 2019 he moved his constituency office to the industrial area of the Engstlatt district of Balingen.

In the media it was claimed that there had been a dispute between AfD MP Stefan Räpple and Stefan Herre. Räpple had become palpable after Herre criticized his choice of words in the plenary. The parliamentary group refuted this claim, Räpple later issued an affidavit in the state parliament and publicly stated that there had been no fight.
