Stefan Kudelski (born February 27, 1929 in Warsaw ; † January 26, 2013 in Cheseaux-sur-Lausanne , Canton of Vaud , Switzerland ) was a Polish-Swiss company founder and inventor of Nagra tape recorders.

During the Second World War , his family fled the National Socialists to Hungary and France before they finally found asylum in Switzerland . He built his first tape recorder while studying at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne in 1948 . In 1951 he founded his company and began producing the Nagra I tape recorder for radio reporters . In 1990 he was honored with the Gordon E. Sawyer Award by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his technical achievements . He died on January 26, 2013.

His son André Kudelski now runs the Kudelski company .
