Stefan Möbs

Stefan Möbs (born August 15, 1956 in Wetzlar ) is a German diplomat . He has been Ambassador to Kuwait since August 2019 .

career

Stefan Möbs joined the Foreign Service in 1986. Before that, he studied German and law in Essen , Münster and Lausanne , completed his legal clerkship at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court and passed the second state examination in 1986.

After completing his preparatory service for the higher foreign service, Möbs first found employment in the Foreign Office and then worked at the embassies in Addis Ababa (1988–1991) and London (1991–1994). This was followed by a renewed assignment in the Foreign Office (1994–1997), then a time as Deputy Ambassador to the Damascus Embassy (1997–2000) and another assignment in the Foreign Office, this time as Deputy Head of Unit.

From 2004 to 2005 Möbs studied for a year under the Harvard Fellowship Program in Boston and then worked at the embassy in Washington until 2008 . Before joining the Consulate General in Shanghai as Deputy Head in 2011 , Möbs worked from 2008 to 2011 as Head of Division in the Foreign Office. From Shanghai he moved to Tokyo , where Möbs headed the Politics, Economics and Science departments from 2014 to 2019.

In August 2019 Möbs was sent to Kuwait as an ambassador .
