Stefan Moore

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stefan Moore (* 1944 ) is an American documentary filmmaker .

Stefan Moore made the documentary The Irish Tapes with John Reilly between 1971 and 1974 . The footage was taken in Northern Ireland with a Sony 3400 Portapak video camera .

The filmmakers later commented on the production conditions as follows:

"The kind of location work we were doing with our portapak was really terra incognita. At that time no one had done much field work with portapaks, and as far as we knew, no one had taken them into difficult, and sometimes chaotic locations for extended periods, miles from repairs and spare parts. There was no one we could call for pointers or warnings; we were breaking new ground. "

- Reilly and Moore

The first performance of The Irish Tapes took place in the Global Village Media, founded in New York City in 1969, in the form of a multichannel installation . On the documenta 6 in Kassel was The Irish Tapes shown in a 60-minute version.
