Stefan Petermann

Stefan Petermann (born December 5, 1978 in Werdau , GDR ) is a German author.

Life and work

Petermann grew up in Werdau . After completing his community service, he began studying media design at the Bauhaus University in Weimar . In 2005 he received a diploma . He lives in Weimar.

At the end of 2009 his debut Der Schlaf und das Whispering appeared in Hamburg's Asphalt & anders Verlag . The novel tells two life stories in the tradition of magical realism. Petermann has received various awards for his short stories, including a. the audience award of the 14th MDR literature award and the literature grant of the state of Thuringia. In 2012, as part of the Bremer Netzresidenz, he developed the opposite of Henry Sy, a fictional biography on Facebook, which was published in 2014 as a novel of the same name.

Two of his stories were filmed. Both next door and brimstone butterfly, shut up! were shown and awarded at festivals. The film The Wolf's Fear of the Wolf, based on his poem of the same name, received the “Ritter Sport Film Prize” in the German-language competition at the 2016 Zebra Poetry Film Festival.

Petermann is a co-founder of the film authors collective 1meter60 Film . In 2015 he was the town clerk in Wels.
