Stefan Schmidt (born May 19, 1981 in Freystadt ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). He has been a member of the 19th electoral term of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

Life

After graduating from high school, Stefan Schmidt studied teaching at the University of Regensburg . He is a trained secondary school teacher with a focus on political education. From 2007 to 2013 he worked there as a research assistant. Furthermore, from 2009 he was a research assistant for Thomas Gambke , member of the Bundestag ; from 2013 he was also employed by the Bundestag member Doris Wagner . He is married and has a son.

Party and politics

Schmidt has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2002 and has been the district chairman of the Upper Palatinate party district since 2007. In the 2017 federal election , he moved into the Bundestag at number 10 on the list for Alliance 90 / The Greens .

Schmidt is a member of the committees for finance and tourism. He is also the spokesman for local finances in the Bündnis90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group. In addition, Schmidt is a deputy member of the Committee for Food and Agriculture, as well as the Committee for Construction, Housing, Urban Development and Municipalities.
