Stefan Schmoker

Stefan Schmoker (born May 9, 1983 in Reichenbach ; † January 30, 2009 in Mexico ) was a Swiss paraglider pilot . He studied chemistry and has been paragliding since 2002 , and competitions since 2006. He was also a works pilot for the Swiss paraglider manufacturer Advance .

He died during the sixth round of the World Paragliding Championships in Mexico . According to the Swiss team leader Martin Scheel , the flight conditions on that day were "normal" - in some, especially deep places, turbulent, but quite suitable for paragliding. Stefan Schmoker had a big rattle with a subsequent crumble, but couldn't open the crumple and fell into steep, rocky terrain. Despite immediate help from the paraglider Helmut Eichholzer and a doctor, Schmoker succumbed to his injuries around 3 p.m.
