The Granziner See is a lake in the municipality of Kratzeburg in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The lake has an elongated shape with two basins separated by a narrow peninsula. It is 1,800 meters long and up to 400 meters wide. The north basin of the lake is located in a larger forest area. The southern basin is almost completely unforested and the Havel flows through it. The eponymous town of Granzin is also located on the southern basin. The heights near the steep south bank to the left and right of the Havel river reach heights of up to 84 m above sea level. NHN .
Between the Granziner See and the Pagelsee , the Havel is a stream forced into a narrow channel. Driving on the course of the stream is not permitted in this section, a lorry running parallel on the east side for boat transport enables this route to be bypassed.
The Granziner See is a glacial channel lake and was created during the last ice age ( Weichsel ice age ) from a former meltwater channel that was permanently filled with water after the ice had receded.
The lake is located in the Müritz National Park .
