Stefan Schneider (born November 19, 1969 in Berlin ) is a German sailor .

Life

Stefan Schneider is married to Vivien Kussatz and lives in Bad Saarow . He starts for the Spandauer Yacht Club in Berlin . Schneider began his sailing career at the age of seven in the one-man youngest boat Optimist on the local Tegeler See . He has been sailing in the Europe dinghy since 1985 , four years later he switched to the Olympic 470 dinghy , in which he and Frank Thieme became German runner-up in 1999 at Lake Starnberg. In 2002 he finished 3rd at the German Championships at Scharmützelsee . In 2004 he was German champion in the 470 at Lake Constance. In 2007 he and Frank Thieme won the gold medal at the World Master Cup (the world championship over 30s) of the 470s at Lake Bracciano in Italy.

Since 2006 he has been steering a Nordic folk boat on regattas , with which he became German champion in Berlin in 2009 . In 2011 he repeated his success on the Möhnetalsperre and again became German champion with Günter Dörband and Rainer Birkestock. In 2011 he won the gold cup (the unofficial world championship) of the Nordic Folk Boats on the Baltic Sea off Travemünde with Günter Dörband and Frank Thieme .
