Stefan Seuring

Stefan Seuring (* 1967 in Fulda ) is a German economist and university professor ; since 2011 head of the supply chain management department at the University of Kassel .

Life

Seuring studied a. a. Business studies in Stuttgart, chemistry in Bayreuth and Bristol. He graduated from the University of Bristol with a Master of Science degree in chemistry. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Business in the Environment from the University of Kent at Canterbury . He did his doctorate and habilitation at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg . In the meantime he was u. a. working as visiting scholar at Copenhagen Business School .

Seuring is an influential scientist , particularly when it comes to sustainability in supply chain management . An article written by Seuring and Martin Müller with over 70,000 visits is the most frequently accessed article by Germans on ScienceDirect in the Physical Science category since 2005, and two further articles Seurings are among the 100 most frequently accessed articles in the Social Sciences category and Economics . Seuring's name was also mentioned in the Handelsblatt Business Economics Ranking 2012 and 2014, which lists the 250 most influential German-speaking business administration professors measured by their publication success (life's work).

In 2016, Seuring was included in a list of the 27 most influential scientists in logistics and supply chain management compiled by French scholars. The criterion for inclusion was that the research work was rated as trend-setting worldwide. Seuring is recognized primarily for his research work at the interface between sustainability and supply chain management. The work was characterized by the fact that not individual aspects of the topic of sustainability are taken up, but an approach was developed that puts both environmental problems and social challenges in the focus of the management of global value chains. Seuring is the only German scientist on the list and one of only seven Europeans.

In 2018 and 2019 he will be included in the list of Highly Cited Researchers by Clarivate Analytics. It names 6,216 scientists worldwide whose scientific work is considered particularly influential. This was determined on the basis of publications listed in the Web of Science , which belong to the top 1% cited articles in the respective research field.
