Stefan Voigt (economist)

Stefan Voigt (born August 19, 1962 in Hamburg ) is a German economist and has been a co-director at the Institute for Law and Economics at the University of Hamburg since October 2009.

Life

From October 2006 to September 2009 Voigt held the chair for regulatory economics and international economic relations at the Philipps University of Marburg . From 2002 to 2006 he held the chair for general economic policy at the University of Kassel . Before that, he was a C3 professor for economic policy at the Ruhr University in Bochum .

His academic focus is on New Institutional Economics, Constitutional Economics and the analysis of the economic consequences of judicial structures. He is the author of two successful textbooks on (new) institutional economics and a board member of the European Public Choice Society.

Voigt is the recipient of the Herbert Quandt Award 1999, the habilitation award from the Friedrich Schiller University Jena for the best habilitation in 1997 and 1998, and the Walter Eucken Award from the Friedrich Schiller University in 1994 for outstanding achievements in the field of order theory and politics. Among other things, he is a member of the editorial board of Public Choice magazine and editor of Constitutional Political Economy.
