Stefan Welsch (* 1969 in Husum ) is a German cellist and music teacher.

Stefan Welsch studied the violoncello with Peter Buck at the State University for Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart and with Gert von Bülow at the University of Music and Theater Rostock , where he passed his concert exam with distinction.

From 1997 to 2000 Stefan Welsch was a lecturer at the Rostock University of Music and Theater and assistant to Professor Gert von Bülow. Since 1999 he has been a lecturer for violoncello at the Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt , and since 2002 he has also been a lecturer at the Hesse Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 2005 he was employed as a lecturer at the Landesmusikgymnasium Rheinland-Pfalz (Peter-Altmeier-Gymnasium) in Montabaur .

Stefan Welsch gives concerts in a wide variety of chamber music ensembles. These include the Chagall Quartet, a classical string quartet that has been giving concerts in Germany, France, Spain and Denmark since 1994. Since 2004 he has also played in the klezmer and jazz ensemble Colalaila Classic of the Israeli clarinetist Irith Gabriely , with whom he regularly gives concerts.
