Stefan Wimmer (born November 21, 1967 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper . He is the son of Rudolf Wimmer , KSC's record player .

Career

Wimmer junior followed in the footsteps of his father Rudi at Karlsruher SC , who had guarded the KSC gate for years. Stefan played with the amateurs and made the leap into the Bundesliga team . In the 1987/88 season he was in the squad and was a substitute behind the regular goalkeeper Alexander Famulla and the later national team goalkeeper Oliver Kahn . Wimmer could not prevail against the strong competition at KSC in the goalkeeper position. He came to a mission, he was set up by coach Winfried Schäfer in a game - regular force Famulla was injured - from the start. The game against SV Werder Bremen was lost 2-0, Wimmer had shown a strong performance, but did not get a chance afterwards. He then left the KSC and played for Rot-Weiß Frankfurt and SV Darmstadt 98 .

After the active career

After his active career, Wimmer worked for the Sparkasse.
