Stefanie Kunschke

Stefanie Kunschke (* in Mönchengladbach ) is a German opera, operetta, lied and oratorio singer in the lyric soprano voice genre . She has been a member of the soloist ensemble of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz since 2007 .

Life and artistic work

As a child she was a student at the municipal music school in Mönchengladbach, where she later taught singing and recorder and co-founded the Gladbach Singing School. In addition, she led several choirs in the Cologne area and the choir of the Philharmonic Young Christians in Augsburg.

After graduating from high school, she studied school music, instrumental and vocal pedagogy at the University of Music in Cologne. There her teachers were Klesie Kelly and Arthur Janzen . She passed her high school diploma in opera, oratorio and song. In 2002 she finished her studies with the concert exam.

During her studies she was a member of the Gächinger Kantorie Stuttgart (headed by Helmuth Rilling ). She also attended master classes with Liselotte Hammes , Klesie Kelly , Sissel Hoyem-Aune , Christoph Prégardien , Barbara Schlick and Ingrid Figur, among others . Her first engagements took her to the Bonn Opera and the Hagen Theater during her studies . At the Young Chamber Opera in Cologne she appeared as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte .

Stefanie Kunschke received her first permanent engagement in 2002 at the Theater Lübeck , where she was engaged until 2006. There she was able to sing and play parts of the lighter lyric subject, but also develop her vocals further. So she sang u. a. Anne Trulove in Rakes Progress, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Mrs Wordsworth in Albert Herring, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Stasi in the Csardasfürstin, Christel in the bird dealer and Marie in Tsar and Zimmermann.

In 2007 she moved from Lübeck to the Augsburg Theater as a lyric soprano . A few months later she was awarded the Augsburg Theater Prize. She sang Hero in Béatrice et Bénédict and Despina in Cosi fan tutte.

Stefanie Kunschke has been a member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz since the beginning of the 2007/2008 season . There her most important roles were Micaela in Carmen, Pamina in the Magic Flute (premiere of the production by Rosamund Gilmore), Adina in Der Liebestrank, Countess Stasi in the Csárdásfürstin, Susanna in Die Hochzeit des Figaro (directed by Alfred Kirchner ), Valencienne (The funny Widow), Adelaide (Beauty and the Beast) and Lisida (Love and Jealousy). In addition, she was able to develop further in the lyric subject and will now take over Marie (Sold Bride) and Agathe (Freischütz) alongside Pamina and Füchslein Clever Head (Clever Foxes).

Stefanie Kunschke works as a lieder and oratorio singer, especially in the field of early music in various baroque ensembles, for example with the baroque ensemble Bel Tempo . Concert tours have taken her to England, Moscow, Spain, Sweden and France. CDs have emerged from concert recordings with works from contemporary compositions.
