Stefano Gobbi

Stefano Gobbi (born March 22, 1930 in Dongo , Como Province , Italy ; † June 29, 2011 in Milan ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and founder of the Marian priestly movement .

Life

Stefano Gobbi was a member of the Society of Saint Paul, one of the first papal secular institutes founded in 1920 by the Archbishop of Milan, Andrea Carlo Ferrari . Gobbi was initially an insurance manager in Milan and was ordained a priest in 1964 . He received his doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome .

In 1972 he founded the Marian Priestly Movement (MPB), a Catholic association of priests with the aim of implementing the Revelation of Fatima . According to its own information (as of 2011), the association has around 400 bishops (approx. 10%) and 100,000 priests (approx. 25%).

His work Libro azul (The Blue Book, in Germany under the title The Mother of God to the Priests, Her Much Beloved Sons ) with his remarks on the Virgin Mary, which appeared for the first time in 1973, was the basis for his work.
