Stefano Sandrone (born February 1, 1988 in Canelli , Italy ) is an Italian neuroscientist with a particular interest in the history of neurology and neuroscience.

life and work

Stefano Sandrone studied and researched in Milan, Zurich and London. He completed his studies in neuroscience at King's College London with a doctorate (Ph.D) and started there as a teaching fellow.

While working in Milan, Sandrone rediscovered a manuscript by Angelo Mosso . In it he described the first experiments that are considered to be forerunners of functional neuroimaging . The discovery has been featured in several magazines and newspapers.

Awards

In 2014, he and six other young scientists from King's College were invited to the 64th Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau . As a co-author of the book “Brain Renaissance”, he received the biennial prize in 2015 for an outstanding book in the history of neuroscience. from the International Society for the History of Neuroscience.

In 2016, Sandrone received the H. Richard Tyler Award from the American Academy of Neurology. and the following year he was elected vice chairman of the Department of History of Neurology within the same academy. He became the youngest vice chairman of the American Academy of Neurology.
