Steffen Kottkamp (* 1968 in Bremen ) is a German television journalist and former program director (2008–2013) of the children's and youth television program KiKA .

Life

Kottkamp is a son of the sports journalist Volker Kottkamp . By 1989 he trained as a camera assistant , in 1990 he began studying media education , psychology and politics in Augsburg and Frankfurt / Main.

In 1996 and 1997 he worked at Südwestfunk on the conception and support of the internet service kindernetz.de for the radio and television children's programs there and also worked as a freelance editor for the family program. He then moved to the broadcaster Free Berlin (since 2003 Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg ) as editor and presenter and was responsible for the broadcaster's children's and youth programs on ARD and KiKA. In 2004 he was also the presenter of a weekly life counseling program on the third television program. In 2005 he became head producer at the production company Studio.TV.Film , responsible for the further development of existing formats and the development and support of new formats.

In 2008, Kottkamp became the program manager of the children's channel. After it became known in 2011 that production manager Marco K. had been able to misuse at least eight million euros from the station budget for his gambling addiction over the years, the public prosecutor's office also investigated Kottkamp, ​​who was on leave in 2012 and released in 2013 after the station had inspected the public prosecutor's files. He emphasizes his innocence: "To accuse me - who I came into this situation from outside - of playing on the keyboard of corruption and embezzlement is grotesque." In January 2014, the dismissal was reversed in the form of an amicable out-of-court settlement. All allegations and demands were lifted, Kottkamp subsequently continued to work until December 31, 2013, the original end of his term of office at KiKA. As of December 2016, Kottkamp will be responsible for the fortunes of Nickelodeon in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in his role as Director Kids & Family at Viacom International Media Networks GSA .
