Altena stone bridge
The Stone Bridge Altena is a cultural monument protected arch bridge over the river Lenne in the North Rhine-Westphalian city Altena .
history
The three-arched road bridge over the Lenne was built in 1912 at the exit of the Rahmedetal . It replaced a bridge of medieval origin in the same place and took up traffic on one of the main regional routes from the direction of Lüdenscheid . It was cut off from through traffic by the construction of a railway line and now forms a dead end.
The bridge is 68 meters long and consists of three flat basket arches . In addition to elements of Art Nouveau , the bridge has other decorations in the form of reliefs of the coats of arms of the former County of Mark and the jumping horse of Westphalia .
