The Lennewehr Hohenlimburg is a weir protected as a cultural monument in the river Lenne in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Hagen , district Hohenlimburg .

history

The Lennewehr Hohenlimburg, which is located next to the Hohenlimburg Lenne bridge on the Ruhr-Sieg route , was built around 1900 together with a turbine system to use the river's hydropower . At the weir, an upper ditch branched off to the hydroelectric power station , which was shut down in 1963 and which was almost completely backfilled in 1970 and has since been built over. Also protected as part of the ensemble is a castle-like building behind the weir, which originally served as a painters' workshop and was probably also built around 1900.
