Skytten stone box
The stone box from Skytten in Falköping in the province of Västra Götalands län in Sweden lies on a meadow in a residential area on the Högstenagatan in a round hill 18–20 m in diameter and 0.5–0.6 m high, the surface of which is covered with stones of 0 , 2–0.4 m in diameter is covered.
A concentric stone circle about 13.0 m in diameter can be seen. In the middle part, bearing stones with a visible height of 0.5–0.7 m form an excavated and restored stone box ( Swedish: Hällkistan ) of around 5.8 × 2.3 m outer dimensions, which is divided into two sections. The larger part in the northeast measures about 3.9 × 1.7–2.0 m inside. The smaller part in the southwest measures about 1.3 × 1.2-1.3 m inside. The long sides are formed by three or five limestone slabs . All capstones are missing.
An excavation took place in 1973, during which, among other things, the skeletons of about 30 people were found. The other finds dated to the End Stone Age ( C14 analysis : 1915–1460 BC) consisted of six amber beads , a flint dagger , a bone flute and broken pottery.
In the immediate vicinity, about 30 m northeast, is the Falköping 5: 1 burial mound .
